ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects both children and adults. While it is often associated with difficulties in focus and hyperactivity, ADHD is much more complex and can impact every aspect of daily lifefrom work and school performance to relationships and self-esteem. At Wellness Whisper Psychiatry, we provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to help individuals harness their strengths while managing the challenges of ADHD.
What is ADHD?

ADHD is characterized by patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that are more frequent and severe than typically observed at a given age. It is not simply about being “distracted” or “energetic.” Instead, ADHD affects the brain’s ability to regulate attention, manage impulses, and organize behavior.
Though commonly diagnosed in childhood, ADHD often continues into adulthood. Many adults may have lived with undiagnosed symptoms for years, only realizing later in life that ADHD has been affecting their work, relationships, and overall well-being. With the right treatment and support, individuals with ADHD can learn strategies to thrive.
Symptoms
ADHD symptoms vary depending on the individual and often fall into three main categories: inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Many experience a mix of these symptoms, which can impact different areas of daily functioning.
Trouble staying focused, difficulty following through on tasks, forgetfulness, or frequently misplacing items. People with this symptom type may appear distracted, disorganized, or inconsistent in completing responsibilities.
Excessive movement, constant fidgeting, and difficulty sitting still are common signs. Adults may feel an inner sense of restlessness, while children may seem to be “always on the go” or unable to engage in quiet play.
Acting quickly without considering consequences, interrupting conversations, or struggling to wait one’s turn. Impulsivity may also lead to risk-taking behaviors or difficulties in maintaining social relationships.
